I just recently ran into two examples of 이맘 때 which is a new expression for me.

매년 이맘 때 쯤이면
- 작년 이맘 때만 해도
I can guess that it means about this time last year.
but, what's to stop 이맘 때, this is used when recollecting? 과거를 회상할 때, seems like.

about[around; at] this time ^every year[last year; next year]
If i understood the last part of your post correctly - your question, then there's no reason really why the word couldn't be used when recollecting.
