On lang-8, one of my corrections used the following construction:
제가 귀 기울여 듣고 있음에도 이해를 하지 못하는 건 드라마에서 순 한국어를 한자어로 축약시키는 경향이 있고, 드라마가 진행되면서 계속 새로운 인물들이 등장해서 그들의 이름을 외우기 어려우며 그들의 벼슬아치 등급 제도를 잘 모르기 때문입니다.
I wondered if this is even a possible construction. It seems like a discombabulation (incompatibility), so I made a few sentences and posted them there on lang-8 where they were promptly corrected.
Apparently, it flies.
Here are the corrected versions:
1) 제가 오토바이 보험금을 타지 못한 건(못 탄 건) 보험에 가입하지 않았기 때문입니다. 보험에 가입하지 않은 건 나는 운전을 아주 잘하니까 사고가 날 가능성이 낮다고 판단했기 때문입니다.
2) 누님이 딸과 함께 오지 않았던 건 딸님의 나이가 너무 작아서 그랬어요. 아기를 데려 여행가는 건 좋은 생각 아닙니다.
This is really useful because I have always used:
~ 는 이유 중에 , .... 이다.
왜 ~ 느냐면 .... 기 때문이다.
왜냐하면 ... 기 때문이다.
It does still seem a little off in the logic (is this a new meaning for 는??) ... but apparently it flies!
