add 기 to the stem


Finally, there is also the ending 기.... we take a verb like 하다 and it becomes 하기 and VOILA we have a noun!

먹기 좋다 good/convenient/easy to eat
보기가 좋다 nice looking (good to see)
살기 좋다 good to live
숨기에 좋다 good for hiding
팔기에 좋다 good for selling
발견하기가 어렵다 to be difficult to find


* 읽다 → 읽기 = reading
* 쓰다 → 쓰기 = writing
* 듣다 → 듣기 = listening
* 말하다 → 말하기 = speaking
* 가다 → 가기 = going
* 오다 → 오기 = coming
* 보다 → 보기 = watching
* 먹다 → 먹기 = eating
* 자다 → 자기 = sleeping
* 달리다 → 달리기 = running
* 사다 → 사기 = buying
* 팔다 → 팔기 = selling
* 서다 → 서기 = standing
* 앉다 → 앉기 = sitting
* 살다 → 살기 = living
* 죽다 → 죽기 = dying

The nominal ending after the stem makes the stem function as a noun. This stem can form a noun phrase or a noun clause with preceding words.
-기 is the nominal ending as the above post says.

For example:

오늘 밥 먹기가 싫어요.
I don’t want to eat a meal today.
먹 (to eat) + 기
여기는 정말 살기 좋아요.
Here is really nice to live.
살 (to live) + 기

달리 (to run) + 기 = 달리기 <noun> running
굵 (to be thick) + 기 = 굵기 <noun> thickness
크 (to be big) + 기 = 크기 <noun> size
