ㅅ ending verbs (짓다 to build)
when the first letter of the next syllable is a vowel, the final ㅅ is dropped.

낫다 나아 나으니 나았다
붓다 부어부으니부었다
긋다그어 그으니 그었다
잇다 이어 이으니 이었다
짓다 지어 지으니 지었다


찻물을 잔에 부어 .. pour the cold water into the cup

exceptions: 빼앗다 to deprive of (빼앗아, 빼앗으니), 벗다 to take off clothes (벗어, 벗으니), 웃다 to smile or laugh (웃어, 웃으니), 씻다 to wash (씻어, 씻으니)
