1. to
destination/place + 에
person + 에게 / 한테
These are similar to on, to, or toward.
샘 = Sam
한국 = Korea
제니 = Jenny
5월 = May [Thus 1월 is January, 2월 is February and so on.]

* 샘은 한국에 갔다 = Sam, to Korea, went. [Sam went to Korea]
* 제니는 5월에 왔다 = Jenny, in May, came. [Jenny came in May]

You can also make a long sentence.

* 제니는 한국에 5월에 오전에 왔다. = Jenny, to Korea, in May, at AM, came. [Jenny came to Korea in May, AM.]

Note: 에 is used for words both with or without a final consonant.

* 학교에 = at school
* 병원에 = at hospital

그가 너에게 연필을 주었다. He gave a pencil to you.
내가 공을 벽에 던졌다. I threw the ball on the wall.
컵이 바닥에 떨어졌다. Cup fell on the floor.
그녀가 그에게로 갔다. She went to him.

다선 개에 6,000원

3. stating a reason for something

암에 걸려 죽었어 . to die from cancer
실연 때문에 죽었어 (자살). He died from a broken heart (suicide)
심장마비로 죽었어 to die from a heart attack
심장마비 때문에 죽었어 to die from a heart attack
바람이 세게 불어서 모자가 하늘로 날라갔어 the wind made my hat blow away
큰 이익이 있다는 말에 넘어가서 자기 목돈을 주식에 투자해버렸어. He believed that he could make a big profit doing it, so he took all his savings and put them in the stock market.
내가 좋아하던 드라마가 저녁에 마지막회이란 걸 알고 나서 벌떡 일어나고 소리쳤어. I stood up and screamed when I found out that tonight was the end of my favorite Korean soap.

4. After time expressions

일요일에 무엇을 하세요? What do you do on Sundays?
목요일에는 수업이 있어요. On Thursdays, we have class.
주중에 바쁘세요? Are you busy during the week?
주말에는 틈이 많지오. On the weekends, you have a lot of free time, don`t you?
